In the years before the Civil War, the rhetoric between North and South ran very hot. Both sides unyielding, threatening each other with violence, accusation of treason, just what we are hearing now.
The result was four years of civil war.
Today we face the same level of vitriol between the government and the people it’s supposed to lead. Trump did not cause this rift, he is a symptom.
I support Clinton as the lesser of two evils. But I do not labor under the delusion that a Clinton victory will unite this country. Frankly, the notion is laughable. If she wins, the divisiveness will only worsen. You cannot underestimate the irrational hatred millions of people have for Hillary Clinton.
The best hope for this country is if neither candidate wins the election.
